FRISCO, Texas – After strong performances at the Texas Relays, Northwestern State's Maygan Shaw and A&M-Commerce's Tamara Susa are the winners of the third Southland Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award of the 2023 season, as announced Wednesday by the conference office.
Women's Track Athlete of the Week: Maygan Shaw, Northwestern State - So. - Pineville, La. (Pineville HS)
Shaw dominated in the women's 200 meters, running a 23.55, which is a personal best and the top time in Southland Conference in the outdoor this season. Maygan came in fifth in a loaded field at the Texas Relays. She was a member of the 4x400 relay that posted a 3:40.11.
Women's Field Athlete of the Week: Tamara Susa, A&M-Commerce - Sr. - Novi Sad, Serbia
Susa placed second in the javelin 'B' section at the Texas Relays with a personal-best throw of 48.05 meters (157-8). Her mark leads the conference and is sixth in the region.

Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director. Voting for one’s own athlete is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on 25 percent of ballots.
