FRISCO, Texas – Sanaria Butler and Annemarie Boussard of Northwestern State earned the Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week awards as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week: Sanaria Butler, Northwestern State – Sprints - So. – Port Arthur, Texas (Port Neches-Groves HS)
Sanaria Bulter earned the title of Women's Track Athlete of the week for the first time this season by breaking the Southland Conference record for the indoor 400, running a 52.92, set at the Jarvis Scott Open. Right after breaking that record, she went straight to the long jump, setting a PR with a distance of 19-5.25. In the 200, she posted another PR with a time of 24.05. Those scores all rank in the top three in the SLC, being No. 1 in the 400.
Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Annemarie Broussard, Northwestern State – Pole Vault - Sr. – Abbeville, La. (Abbeville HS)
Annemarie Broussard grabs the weekly award for the women's field catagory for the first time this season. Broussarad cleared 12-10.75 in the pole vault at the Jarvis Scott Open. That mark is the best in the SLC so far this season.
